What we collect
When you request a copy of a paper, we record your name, email, company and message, and the page you came from. The copy you receive carries a unique code; when it is opened or its QR code is scanned, we record that event with the time and a one-way hash of the network address. If you answer the questions in a paper, we record your answers. If you are a professional contact of ours, we hold your name, role, company and the way we are connected. When you write to one of our addresses, we keep your message, your address and its headers, and record what we did with it.
Why
To deliver what you asked for, to answer what you write to us, to understand which problems the industry wants solved, and to keep in touch with professional contacts about our work. Our basis is our legitimate interest in running a business-to-business practice, and your consent where you subscribe to a newsletter.
Who processes it
Cloudflare (hosting, short links, bot protection, cookieless analytics), Resend (email delivery), Twenty (our customer record, on infrastructure we operate), Google Workspace (mail and documents), n8n (automation, on infrastructure we operate), Slack (team messaging: the sender and subject of mail to us, and our notes on it) and Anthropic (an AI model that reads mail to security@, hello@ and invest@ to draft our reply and summarise reports; never mail to privacy@). A person approves every reply before it is sent. None of them may use your data for their own purposes.
Cookies
We set none. Our analytics are cookieless and do not track you across sites.
How long
Request and scan records for 24 months; answers for 36 months; messages to us and our record of them for 24 months; privacy requests and their record for 36 months after we close them; professional contact records until you object or five years without contact.
Your rights
Ask what we hold, correct it, delete it, or object to our using it:[email protected]. We answer within 30 days. Every email we send carries an unsubscribe link.
